Had an interesting discussion with Dr. Mark Bull (Bull3d.net) around priorities in developing golf motion and he found training the pelvis, as the center of motion, to be primary. I haven’t looked at the pelvis to much and decided to do some investigating… Here’s what I found.
- Hips start slightly open to target line.
- Hips start to turn before hands begin to swing.
- Max hip turn occurs at X-cross position.
- Hips recenter and get back to square as lead arm gets level to the ground.
- Hips are 40 degrees open at impact.
- Hips turn 90 degrees to the target at X-cross position in follow through.
- Hips turn closer to 110 degrees open in the follow-through, rather than 90 degrees
